Great Detroit Area Campground

Truly a family campground with everything from tents to big rigs. Lake water slide, boats and bikes for kids. Fire rings and table at every site. Mike and his crew work tirelessly to maintain this outstanding park whether you're in for a night or a month.

Plus and minus
By user-4900761... on 2017-10-23.
It's easy to find the positive things about this 300 space campground - a beautiful lake, wooded sites, easy access from I-94, and a recent addition - really good internet service. But this aging (former KOA) campground has misplaced their priorities. Instead of building a new monolithic storage building they should be repairing and replacing the picnic tables that are falling a part. Many of the sites have awkward utility connections - long drain runs and electrical service in odd locations. Many of the electrical posts would likely not pass inspection if placed today. And how can you have a shower stall OUT OF SERVICE for weeks at a time? Fix It! Coupled with a desk staff that rarely understands their computer system and you have a park that really needs some good management. We'll probably return because Detroit CGs are in short supply. And don't let the "Greenfield" fool you ... it is NOT close to Greenfield Village.

POOR customer service
By user-6400818... on 2017-10-23.
On 5/26, we made a reservation for 9/1-3/2017, 2 nights. took my information and e-mailed an confirmation stating, "Let me know if there are any problems!" When I saw that she made the reservation for 3 nights, leaving 9/4, I called right back. She then stated that it is a holiday weekend and there is a 3 night minimum, which she failed to explain. Then there is a cancellation fee of $10.00. I wouldn't have made the reservation for 3 nights if they were up front and shouldn't have to pay the $10.00 to cancel. Left messages for the manager, but he's too busy to speak with me. Rating a 1, because it can't be less.

Great Place for the Kids
By user-5074772... on 2017-10-23.
All in all its a great facility and the staff is friendly. The kids loved the slides, fishing the stocked lake, nature trails & face painting (stayed over a holiday weekend). We took advantage of the discounted Henry Ford Museum Tickets and highly recommend visiting. Our camp site was smaller then I would have liked, shaded by the trees, however they were acorn trees which when hitting the top of the camper definitely was loud! I would stay again, but might try for an open site if possble.

Nice Campground

Been camping Here for the last 4 years. It is a nice quiet place with spacious sites. Beautiful lake. Great for kids. The only negative i can point is the muddy it gets when it is raining.

Convenient to Detroit
By user-4815620... on 2018-07-06.
We have stayed twice. Once for three days when we visited the Ford Museum and once on the way south for a quick overnight stay. The park is quiet and perfect for what we needed. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They even had some discounted tickets for the Ford Museum.

We had one of the unshaded sights. A nice big pull thru with lots of space for out MH and toad and both sides of us. The lake is very nice and the campground tidy. Good laundry and bathrooms. We thought it was a bit pricy but we got 10% discount for Good Sam club.

Absolutely perfect camping trip. The staff is friendly and very professional. The campground could use some more gravel in some spots but if you take your time planning where to set up, it s not an issue.

At one point, this was probably a decent park...
Pros: on a lake and with a nice slide for the kids. However, they up charge for each kid.
Cons: You will feel like you are driving on a washboard. They really need to bring in some gravel to cover all the pot holes. Sites are not maintained.... I hope you are good at backing in, because you will have to back around multiple trees to get into a spot.
It is close to Greenfield village, but is NOT connected to the Henry Ford in any way.
