Nicely maintained park, fairly close to 70. We got there after dark, and self-registered. We were able to back in without having to unhook (46' total length). Pretty lake. If we lived in the area I could see us making this a regular camping spot.

Lake Shawnee, Great
By user-5872022... on 2017-10-23.
This is a great overnight stop for travelers in Topeka area. Close to I70. Only $20 a night in summer with both 30 and 50 amp service on a lovely lake view.

What a beautiful park. Lots of nice grassy sites right next to pretty Lake Shawnee. Many wonderful nature sounds at night - peaceful. Relaxed atmosphere without nagging signs everywhere. Beautiful.

Park well maintained, easy to park, choice of tree sites or opened. Close to highway, restaurant, etc. Grandkids love to stay because of water park. Friendly staff that helped our RV group in April.

This is our second time camping here. $20 a night for water and electric hookup! The lake is beautiful! Lots of nice areas for walking the dogs. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again! Sites are level, big rig friendly. Dump station on site. What a value!

Beautiful county park with lake views
By user-5796869... on 2019-08-09.
Water, water, water views everywhere. Beautiful, clean and very affordable. Basic 30 amp & water cost me $18 for the night (senior discount). Nicely run and maintained. Make your reservation 'cos these sell out at the price and value.
I may stay an additional night. I'm a happy camper.

Pros and cons
By user-6085225... on 2019-08-09.
We enjoyed the location, my husband was participating in Topeka Tinman, an annual triathlon, but the other campers in our area did not respect the posted quiet hours, there were kids screaming until 2am. Our fire pit was filled with ash and aluminum cans when we arrived. We purchased firewood from the campground office $5 for 6 pieces and it was personally delivered to our campsite. The office manager told us our neighbors propane tank was leaking and he had turned it off. He came out later to speak with our neighbor regarding this issue. There is a shallow dock with swimming area just for the campground if you don t want to go over to the larger swimming area at the lake. Sites were very narrow with not much room between campers. We were able to use our slides and had a picnic table between us and next camper, the other side had only room for a camper and no table.

Bring lots of insect repellent
By user-unknown on 2019-08-09.
Nice place to overnight, staff was friendly and came out to our rig to check us in. The mosquitoes were so thick though they looked like clouds passing. Brought a few of them to Texas the next day and they were still hungry.

Lots of locals; pretty big campground; spots tight & very close together; only paved spots are ADA; dingy bathhouse; extensive area to walk dogs with trail all the way around park boundaries; on lake, but lake access overrun by geese and poo; good location for visiting Topeka & Kansas City.
