Very nice enviroment, next to the beach, shady sites - perfect! But the sanitary facilities are dirty and not well maintained! Sad for a State Park!

Nice park near a great beach. Space was plenty large enough for our 40 foot motor home, and very shaded, but only had 30 amp for power and no sewer hookup. But there are 2 dump stations that are easily accessed upon leaving. The bathrooms tend to get pretty dirty with all the summer beach campers using the facilities, but they are fairly modern. Interior roads are one way and easy to navigate, with only a few low branches. The camp store seemed well stocked and should have any last minute items you may need, excepting Klondike Bars. Making a left turn out of the campground can be challenging as there is quite a bit of fast moving traffic on Hwy 17.

This is a really nice campground! We loved going to the beautiful beach every day. Staff was friendly. Sites are clean. Campers were quiet. My kids enjoyed the playground! The bathrooms need to be cleaned more often (reason for 4 stars)

Spent an extended weekend here. Had a heavily shaded RV site with water and electric. A few sites also had sewer, but not many. There is a Food Lion near the park entrance for groceries. It is not in easy walking distance, but if you have a bike, there is a wide paved bike trail to it. Flea market next to the Food Lion is interesting. Picked up some really cheap, but nice, sunglasses there. The beach is within reasonable walking distance (10-12 minutes) of the RV sites. But if you have a wagon or cart, it makes it easier to get your chairs, cooler, etc. to the sand. The beach was not crowded at all while we were there. I expect even in the summer beach months, it is less crowded than the beaches in front of the expensive high-rise resort hotels. A small camp store has a few groceries and commonly needed camping items. Prices were reasonable. The camp hosts were friendly but not intrusive. The park also has six cabins for rent in addition to the tent/RV sites.

Very nice State Park nice walking trails good access to the beach close to Myrtle Beach but far away so noise does not bother you stay here all the time

This is a nice state park for the location. In general the staff was pleasant and the park is clean. Nice beach!

Even with the park being at near capacity, it seemed like you were camping in solitude. People from all over and everyone very nice. Good clean facilities also. Good shade and enjoyable trails to walk. The only part was it was a good long walk from our spot in the furthest back, to the ocean. But not disagreeable. Just HOT.

We love this park. Nice deep shady spots for our 40 footer and tow, nice separation. Short walk to huge beach and fishing pier. Many activities, stores and attractions within 5 miles. Only complaint is large aircraft landing and taking off nearby straight over campground.

The camp ground is clean and it’s location on the ocean and near urban amenities is awesome. But camp sites are very close to each other. Facilities seem too few for so many campers and I was in a campsite where there was no easy way to get to the facilities except walk the roads until you got there.

1st time for us & we spent the weekend there, end of February &we will return. Rangers are very hands on, helpful, great people overall. We arrived a little after 8pm(took us longer to get there than planned) & by 7:30, the ranger called my cell to make sure we were still arriving so they could make sure they came back after closing gate to let us in & guide if needed. That took a huge stress off of us with arriving late & having no idea where our site was. We were on site#73.The sites are tight w/narrow winding roads but we managed our 36' in the dark, so not too bad. Showers were clean and so many thru park that we were always close to one. Bathroom section however...toilets...were gross. Heard many complaining to each other in those 3 days &never saw anyone clean them. Friendly campsite & pleasant to walk around, to beach, or hang out on site...day or night w/our kids. Airplanes@night are abundant, we had our sound machine going all night and it helped a lot.

We have a 40ft toy hauler, have stayed here twice. Both times, getting in and out sites and campground was a careful excerise due to smallish sites, numerous trees that provide lots of shade, and winding roads with tight corners. Stayed in site 135 which is a pull thru but very tight to turn into an out of. Fortunately no one was in the site across from us the day we left so we could use there site to make the right turn. Very crowded park with smallish sites overall. The staff is very nice. The beach is lifeguarded, clean, wide and beautiful, you can walk farther if you want for more islolation, and there is a great fishing pier and limited trails to use. During our entire stay the weather was such that all swimming was very limited or banned outright due to riptides. The bathroom facilities are tired. Dump station is a double and easy to access on the way out. Bugs were not a big problem during our stay. Great access to Myrtle Beach attractions.

We stayed there for 2 nights in August with our 30ft trailer. We were in site 45, close to recently renovated restrooms but also pretty close to our neighbours. The sites are really on the small side for a state park and we had a hard time to back while the guests in front of us had their pick-up parked on the road because their site was too small. You have to know that the park is a conservation area for the venimous copper head snake and the rangers warn you to wear closed shoes when on the campsites, which is not really comfortable when it s 100 degrees. On the good side, the beach is a short walk from the campground (5-10minutes). It is absolutely beautiful and not much crowded. You can bring your dog to the beach before 10 am and after 5 pm during summer months (all day long for the rest of the year). The fishing pier is also very interesting and those who fish in our party had a blast there. This is a park where we would go back for the beach and it s pier or to enjoy Myrtle Beach s entertainment.

Nice park friendly staff. In the flight path for aircraft landing in Myrtle beach. Dump station recepticle is in middle of pad. Need long hose to reach and get as close possible. Beach is nice and a lot of it.

Stayed for 30 days for the half price snowbird special. Less than $20 a night. Loved it. Stayed in loop 6, at the back of campground, we and little bigger spots and full hookups there. Minutes to the beach and fishing pier, and just a short drive to activities. It was our first time here and would come again.

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed it. Very nice park, campground and awesome dayuse areas. Nice fishing pier &gift shop, plenty of parking. Showers were fine, good hot water just little small. Enjoyed the hiking trails and even got to see a grey seal on the beach, park rangers handle that situation wonderfully! We would stay again. Thankfully we didn't see any copperheads, which they do warn you about plenty.

We stayed a week in mid-March when the pollen was intense during our stay. But it s a beautiful campground just off the beach, and it s a very wooded campground with narrow paved windy roads. I did manage to get satellite TV, but only after several tries (mine is portable) and the tree leaves had not all emerged yet. Also my T-Mobile Hot Spot was fine. You are within walking distance to the beach and the pier. We had 50AMP full hook ups, and they were fine except the sewer connection was higher than my RV output. The site was sand but packed and level and had a fire ring and picnic table. The laundry and bathrooms were clean and modern. The nearby airport noise when jets are taking off all times of the day including early morning as well as military aircraft were quite loud! However a great place for families with multiple playgrounds and nature center in the park. Of course the beach was magnificent. Oh and all the shopping, dining, entertainment and souvenirs gifts you could ever want is nearby. I would stay again.

A nice level campsite with full amenities is slightly higher than what's posted $48 week day and $52 weekend. The beach is outstanding and from the furthest campsite, it is a 1/4 mile walk.

I wish all state parks were as nice as this one. The only and I mean only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because the sites were a little close to each other but that didn't really bother us. Everything else was perfect!! The hosts, bathrooms, showers, grounds, location, distance to activities. WOULD COME AGAIN AND AGAIN..

Great State Park, fantastic location, wooded, shady sites. Sites a little on the small side, space wise, but the Park as a whole is amazing

Overall a nice state Park within short distance to the beach. Friendly park personnel and pretty clean especially being on the back end of bike week. We would stay here again.

We are in Spot #88. It and several other spots seem to be angled the wrong way on the one way loop. I had to put the camper at a close to 90 degree angle from the truck to get around a tree ar the road. Very tight spot and my camer is a 21'. Sites are on the small side, but all have trees and shade. Every employee I have talked with was very nice. Short walk to beach.
